In order to be able to do this well, you must be prepared or in the right frame of mind.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Dila and Matthew Milan are doing some very interesting work with a concept they call &#8220;Innovation Parkour&#8221; &#8211; a framework for teaching individuals and teams how to create a prepared mind for innovation, a super-charged scavenger hunt for innovation. There is a <a href=\"http:\/\/netchangeweek.ca\/events\/\">workshop Wednesday, June 10th from 10 to 12 at Net Change Week in Toronto.<\/a> I attended their earlier presentation at the IA Summit in Memphis in which they did not a workshop but presentation.<\/p>\n<p>In New York City this week I was at the International Center of Photography and came across the description of a class on page 44<a href=\"http:\/\/www.icp.org\/atf\/cf\/{A0B4EE7B-5A90-46AB-AF37-7115A2D48F94}\/SS09_PROGRAM_GUIDE.PDF\"> &#8220;The Five Obstructions&#8221; by  Corinne May Botz,<\/a> on the Film by the same name by Lars Von Trier, which I think speaks to the this element of &#8220;obstacles&#8221; and how they help us innovate.<\/p>\n<p>THE FIVE OBSTRUCTIONS<\/p>\n<p>09SFTGS10 | Corinne May Botz<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">Apr 17\u2013May 29 | Fri 10:00 am\u20131:30 pm<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">In the film The Five Obstructions, Lars Von Trier challenges\u00a0filmmaker J\u00f8rgen Leth to remake one of his films five\u00a0different ways, each with a different \u201cobstruction.\u201d Similarly,\u00a0in this class students choose a particular subject matter to\u00a0explore in five different ways. Students are challenged to\u00a0view their subject through particular lenses, including:\u00a0anthropological, voyeuristic, spiritualistic, psychoanalytic,\u00a0and criminological. Accompanying lectures, readings, and\u00a0discussions provide students with an understanding of\u00a0photography\u2019s relationship to these fields, and contemporary artists who appropriate and question these methods.\u00a0Students hone their aesthetic and conceptual abilities and\u00a0deepen their understanding of their subject matter.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To me the idea of using your environment and obstacles to surmount the problem you are addressing is very exciting.
